Why Should I Hire a Wedding Videographer If I Already Have a Photographer?

It's long been debated, and will continue to be, whether or not videography is a necessity when it comes to wedding planning. Often, it's the last check mark on a bride or groom's wedding vendor list, if it makes the list at all. You already have the big ticket item - your photographer - so is it really necessary to have a videographer, too?

The short answer? Yes!

Other than the fact that this is one of the biggest days of your life and deserves to be captured as such, here are five big reasons why you need a videographer in addition to a photographer.

1. More Cameras, More Moments

Having a videographer means at least one other person (and camera) is present during your big day. That means even more precious moments will be captured! There is rarely one thing happening at a time during a wedding, which means having more coverage allows you to see the best representation of the day - or at least another angle!

2. Behind the Scenes

Video allows you to see the "behind the scenes" at your own wedding! You likely won't be able to see your venue setup before everyone is seated, or your bridal party's faces as they come down the aisle before you. You may be too busy dancing to realize your grandma also made it to the dance floor or your siblings are sharing a tender moment. You also get a third-person perspective and get to re-watch smashing cake into each other's faces, or appreciating the toasts given by your best friends.

3. Audio, Audio, Audio

Speaking of toasts, won't you want to listen to them again? You'll never want to forget the generous, loving words your maid of honor or best man wrote for your wedding day. Likewise, a video captures audio of your ceremony, and your vows. Whether you're just saying " I do" or have written your own personal vows, it will be amazing to hear those words from your new spouse again and again.

4. It's All a Blur

Believe the people telling you it will all feel like a blur! You are so busy on your wedding day that it's impossible to take in every moment. You'll be too distracted to notice every beautiful detail that you've been planning for months, and videographers are pros at making sure those things are captured. Having a wedding video will allow you to re-live the best day of your life whenever you'd like.

5. Sleek & Shareable

Wedding videos are no longer a one-angle-on-a-tripod two-hour-long VHS tape anymore - they are more modern and cinematic than ever! If you find the right videographer, you'll shine like a movie star and be able to see all the best highlights of your day in a simple viewing. Wedding videos are also largely sharable with a few different formats to choose from, so that all of your family, friends, guests, and people who weren't able to attend will be able to "ooh" and "aah" over your wedding day!
