Aly & Steve | Wedding Highlights
I knew from the moment we met at their engagement session that Aly and Steve were not only kind and genuine, but also so deeply in love. I clicked with them immediately as we strolled through downtown Annapolis, and their engagement video is my favorite to date! I got to know them and their love story a little better, which always leads to a richer and more personal experience when we finally get to see each other again on the wedding day.
Aly and Steve met on an accidental blind date of sorts, when they were the only two, besides another couple, who showed up for a planned tubing trip in Harper's Ferry. In the weekends the followed, they met up in DC and Baltimore, meeting each other's friends and realizing this was something special. Neither of them can decide on a specific moment of knowing this would be their One, but Steve was won over as Aly won all his friends and family over.
"From the day I met Steve, it felt like he was someone I had known for years," Aly said. "It felt easy. He was one of the most positive and patient people I had met, and I was always excited to see him."
Just a couple months ago, Aly and Steve returned from spending a year and half in Australia together (hence, the koala cake toppers). They had talked about marriage before they left, and Aly hinted that it would be great to celebrate their engagement with family and friends before the big move.
Steve took her back to where they had met in Harper's Ferry. "I told her to get up on a rock and I would have a random person take some pictures of us," Steve told me. "I whispered in this random person's ear, 'I'm about to propose, please get a good picture.'"
Two days after the proposal, Steve had gathered about fifty of their closest family and friends to surprise Aly and celebrate the weekend.
Every. Single. Moment. was pure magic with Aly and Steve. It's not often anymore that I get choked up, but I found myself holding back tears more than once during their wedding. I was particularly touched by the Jewish traditions, like the signing of the ketubah, the hakafot, and the horah. Aly even had a special dance with her mom, after she had expressed she wouldn't get a dance having only daughters. But the absolute best part of the day for me was when I hugged the bride and groom to say goodbye and Steve said enthusiastically, "We can be friends! We really like to be around positive people."
